I am a Senior at PHS and I'm no athelete and my opinion for these other reviews are totally from negative people who just look at the bad things and put no effort into school. I have been to ALL the Pickens County GA schools have met some of the greatest teachers of my life. School is not about having friends or being popular and i have learned that the hard way. I know what I plan to do in the future and that is thanks to my teachers and counselors. Yes, there probably is rude and spoiled people, but at every school there is. Yes, there probably are teachers who are only there for the check but everywhere there will be people who only need the money. Also, if for some reason you find a problem with your cafeteria lunch, dont be lazy and make your lunch.

Pickens High is a great school that offers specialized classes beyond the basics. It also values the arts as much as the other classes.

I moved up here this year and thought it would be alot easier than my old school. Well, i was right but that only is because they don't care what you do or if you do any of your work. Just about every teacher is there to get a pay check and not to teach. They dont care anything about your future. Out of all the counselors only one will help you with what you really want to do for your future. The only thing that really matters at Pickens is the sports. If you arent and athlete than you might as well consider your self a no body. No one likes to get along like they should. They all talk crap about you. There are alot of fights at this school. I dont advise any one to go there.

I am currently attending Pickens High School as a Junior, I dislike this school to the extreme! All the students are rude and spoiled, the staff and teachers are rude and they treat students unfairly. This school is very boring, the teachers do not like to teach and sometimes refuse to deal with their own responsibilities. I do not advise anyone move to Jasper Georgia, in fact, i suggest we move away. Mostly everyone who attends this school hates it and the teachers, the administration team are rude and hate students. The dress code has some of the most pathetic rules. I have found a insect in my ranch dressing with my salad at lunch? That tells you it's not very clean at all! Us students are so un happy with the teachers and how they treat us, everyone is rude!

My daughter is a 10th grader in this system and I have found that her experience with the faculty and staff of this school are rude and extremly unhelpful to anyone who isn't on the basketball/softball/football teams. my other problem with this system is that the teachers don't know their subjects. she has one educator who teaches AP classes, he must look up the questions form the students on the web. I find that this is an inferior enviroment for a student to learn!!!

My experience with the Pickens county high school is not one of high regard. The administration is inconsiderate of all students except the chosen few. The dress code is unacceptable, and the only thing that saves the school itself from complete incompetency is the few teachers that actually care if the students pass or not.

Parent and teacher. Students are well behaved when required. Discipline overall is not enforced. Make out sessions in the halls (PDA as it is called) are common. Some teachers work hard but most allow students to do whatever and still pass them. They lower the bar. Major discipline problems are ignored or covered up. It all depends really on who you know. If a kid gets into trouble and their parents are prominent in the community the punishment is quite different from someone whose family is not well known or liked. Its a below average education. If your child can not graduate from Pickens then I don't know where they can. With the Block schedule students who pass their classes often take multiple PE's to stay in school their senior year. What a quality education right?

My children are doing almost 100% better at Pickens High School than they were at Cherokee High School. I think it is the way the classes are set up to be able to be in the class longer and have less classes per day. It sure has made report card time a great. Pickens High school should be proud of all they are doing for these children and I think it is one of the cleanest schools I have ever been in.

i'm a former student of Pickens County High School. while i was there, i enjoyed probably some of the best moments ever. the teachers were amazing...they acted like they really cared about you. the band program was absolutely amazing. mr. gallagher is one of the best teachers ever and an amazing role model in my life. i miss him greatly. pickens is basically heaven compared to the school i go to now. at pickens, there is a friendly environment, and the teachers respect your opinions. they let you have your word in but at the same time maintaining a structured environment.

The academic program is appears to be excellent, however, the quaility of the teachers is not. My child is a Junior at PHS and has very good grades, she many friends. However, time and time again I have had the opportunity to speak with her & her friends about school and the extracurricular activities they are involved in & have been surprised by some of the comments & actions of the teachers that are suppose to be teaching our children. Do these teachers not understand the impact they make on our children.

I am a student at PHS. When I moved there, I pretty much expected it to be close-minded, egotistical, and insular, which is exactly what I got. At Pickens, if your not a Nette softball/basketball star, the teachers don't care about your views at all. The two teachers I had that treated ME like an actual himan being were Mr. Braun, and Ms. Ballew, two of the best teachers I ever had. The school shows no respect for the gothic/gay community within the school. Sometimes I just wish the teachers and students would treat everyone equally, not look at unique kids as strangers.

Our daughter is a tenth grader at PHS. So far, we are very pleased with this school system. She has excelled in her academics and has maintained excellent grades. She made the Beta Club this year. The band program is wonderful.

This was my senior year. I had to change schools to north forsyth high school and that was the worst. After going to two credited high schools i can say that Pickens is the best school. At this school the teachers care what the students wnat to learn, they care about how the students are doing and i can't even speak about the band program. The band is outstanding. There is so much to be said on the quality of this school. The principal and teachers are envolved and that makes a difference. I never knew what i would be misssing. Parents, this is the best school system because of the teachers. Ms. Bonner's Drama, Gallagher's band, and mr. Brawn's spanish this is an awsome school. One thing that makes this school special is the fact that everybody cares and you can tell. Pride of pickens where the dragons rule. Neiha Burrows
