The Pines Hotel is ZONED Central Business District (CBD) and located within the Commercial Historic District. Two sets of Development Plans convey with sale. The first set of plans is for 7 apartments on the top two floors, a rooftop garden and retail on the first floor. The second set of plans is for an event venue with lodging on the top two floors and a rooftop garden. These plans have NOT gone through the CoS required Third Party Review for permitting. Now for a bit of History on the Pines Hotel: The historic Pines Hotel building was built in 1910 by the Hill family to accommodate railroad workers and traveling salesmen. The hotel closed in 1968 and the building is no longer an operating hotel, though it has been used for other purposes. Construction and Early Use: The three-story, 10, 800-square-foot building was constructed in 1910 and included a 16-car garage on the first floor. It served as a popular hangout for Katy Railroad men for many years. Notable Mentions: The single-story cafe on the west side of the building, where Dan Rather once spoke to the Lions Club in 1967, was used as "Honey's Diner" in the movie Hope Floats.
